George Papadimas (Australian, b. 1969) is a Conceptual artist whose work spans a variety of mediums including sculpture, photography, painting, multimedia installation, and jewellery. Consistent throughout his diverse work is an adherence to precise methodologies and formal logic which serve to create an underlying unity regardless of the genre or materiality.

Papadimas first emerged during the 1980’s as one of the early graffiti artists of Melbourne, Australia’s nascent (and now world-famous) street art movement. Transitioning to more conceptual and minimal art, he completed his formal fine art education majoring in painting and sculpture at RMIT Melbourne. In 1994 he held his first solo exhibition ( All One and Two Digits, 1-9 ) at Linden Gallery, Melbourne. Since then his work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows at numerous galleries and public spaces in Australia, Vietnam and the United States.

From 2005 to 2014, Papadimas lived and worked in Ho Chi Minh City and New York City. It was during his time in New York that he first developed the ( exes ) project and the formal rules behind it (all images captured and edited solely on his iPhone). The images in the ( exes ) book are just a small portion of the over 3000 images Papadimas has captured in various cities over the years and are part of a larger, ongoing work which continues to grow in scope.

In 2014 Papadimas returned to Melbourne where he currently lives and works.
